COURSE RULES

I have read and understood the following rules that apply to taking this Internet course offered by Dr. Bender: I understand:

That the content and the requirements of this course are the same as those of any traditional classroom section, in accordance with the official description found in the university's academic catalog.

That this is not an independent study: students must complete assignments according to a calendar established by the professor.

That I must report to the professor at the beginning of the semester via my private e-mail and then stay in continuous touch through the virtual classroom in WebCT. I am prepared to engage in the self-study required by this modality, with the understanding that I can consult the professor and other students via WebCt when in doubt about any aspect of the class.

That I have access to a computer with an Internet connection and problems with these elements cannot be used as a pretext for failure to fulfill the requirements of the course. The professor is in no way responsible for solving such problems.

That I possess the basic computer and Internet skills required to take this on-line course. The professor will provide some orientation regarding the use of WebCT, but will otherwise not engage in teaching computer skills.

That I will regularly access the course in WebCT to inform myself of class activities and to stay current in all study requirements.

That all aspects of the course take place via the Internet: assignments, tests, office hours;. There should be no need to communicate by telephone or FAX.

That on 2-3 occasions, examinations will be given via Internet, usually on Sunday in the evening.

That the final grade in the course will be calculated on the basis of the traditional 100% scale, each assignment representing a percentage of this total.

That for any reason I start the course after the beginning of the semester, no credit will be given to assignments completed and submitted after the submission dates established by the professor.
