OBJECTIVES |

(1) Analyze the essential nature of global society. (2) Apply basic social science concepts to the study of global society from three perspectives: social, political, and economic. (3) Explain the transformations taking place in global society by social, political, and economic change. CAPACITATIONAL (1) Define the concept of global society. (2) Identify the components of global society. (3) Identify the importance of geography in the social, political, and economic development of a specific territorial region. (4) Define such sociological concepts as culture, socialization, social structures, institutions, processes and change. (5) Define such political concepts as state, nation, government, citizenship, power, civil society, political systems, ideologies, geopolitics, international relations, justice, law, civil and human rights. (6) Define such economic concepts as economy (its components and functions), economic systems (capitalism, socialism, communism,mixed), ecoomic treaties, regional and international economic instittions. (7) Analyze the challenges and problems of today's global society. (8) Evaluate Puerto Rico's current and future prospects in the context of an increasingly globalized world. (9) Evaluate Puerto Rico's capacity to confront the challenges of a world in constant transformation. |
